About Us
C. David Newbery attended the University of Kansas, receiving his B.A. in 1969, his M.B.A. in 1971 and his J.D. in 1973. David was admitted to practice in Kansas and before the U.S. District Court, District of Kansas in 1974, in Missouri and before the U.S. District court, Western District of Missouri in 2005, the U.S. Tax Court in 1986 and the U.S. Supreme court in 2000. David is an Approved Civil Mediator, an Approved Dispute Resolution Neutral and an Approved Neutral for Early Assessment Program.
Dave has an extensive background in estate planning, taxation, trusts and estates. He became a Certified Public Accountant in Kansas in 1975. He served as an Assistant Professor of Taxation at Washburn University School of Business from 1982 to 1988; an Adjunct Professor at Washburn University School of Law in 1977, 1978, 1983, and 1991to 1998. He was the Director of Taxation for the Kansas Department of Revenue from 1976 to 1979 and a Kansas Correspondent for State Tax Notes from 1991 to 2005. Dave is a frequent speaker at seminars and workshops on estate planning, state and federal taxation and related topics, having logged over 90 such appearances during the course of his career.
In addition to being of counsel to Vold & Morris, LLC, Dave has his own practice in Topeka, Kansas. He limits his practice areas to Estate Planning, Probate, Trust Administration, State and Federal Taxation, Civil Mediation, and Nonprofit Organizations. David was born in Goodland, Kansas and raised in Colby, Kansas.
